I'm unaccustomed to this sort of game.
Where might we put our Character's stats so that rolls might be done? How is Threat and Momentum both calculated and recorded between Threads? Best, Josie

Well, this is not that sort of game. We aren't using any actual rules set, stats, character sheets, or dice. It's more narrative cooperative writing/freeform RPG. I'm not really familiar with the terms or concepts of Threat or Momentum.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Josie, but I think you're thinking that we were using Star Trek Adventures as a ruleset, since that's where the recruitment thread was posted. This is going to be a free-form roleplay, with Laurie directing the story as though we had a GM, but no stats and no rolls. Inter-character actions should be discussed out of character, and any conflicts talked out first. As for outcomes with interactions with NPCs, that's for Laurie to sort out, I believe...

Exactly. At the time I posted my recruitment post, I didn't know that STA was in fact a tabletop RPG system. I thought it was just a subreddit for various adventures in Star Trek. Reddit suggested I post there.

I have experience in both these types of free form posts and more traditional tabletop RPGs with dice. One thing I will do occasionally is that when my character is confronted with a situation I may make a dice roll to help me decide which direction to write in. For example does her experiment fail spectacularly and cause her some chaos or does it succeed in moving the mission forward. I wouldn’t post that roll anywhere here - but it helps me take my writing in a certain direction. It’s kind of like the solo Captain’s Log game of STA. |

I've used the STA rulebook to flesh out my character idea. I think it can be a fun tool to fuel the writing. I even made a character sheet with stats I don't plan on being useful just for the fun of it.

Funny enough, I used the bcholmles.org site to do essentially the same thing!
